Bahaa Gameel has leveraged his strong background in IT and social science research to bring data and data visualization to the fields of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Currently, Dr Gameel is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of South Florida St Petersburg. His prior research ranges from the impacts of new media on political communications to a cross-national analyses of the ICT readiness among MOOC learners.
Dr. Bahaa Gameel’s current research - conducted in tandem with colleagues from USF St Petersburg, Harvard, Stamford and DePauw universities - includes a National Ethics Project pilot study reviewing the prevalence of ethics, civic engagement and media literacy at American colleges and universities.
Jane Greenberg is working on the front lines of big data and data sharing between organizations and industries. As the Alice B Kroeger Professor for Information Science at Drexel University, Dr Greenberg’s research and teaching activities are broad in scope addressing issues related to data science, metadata, and ontological engineering.
Additionally, Jane Greenberg serves as director of CCI's Metadata Research Center, which advances research in metadata, semantics, and ontologies. She is a senior scientist at the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NESCent) in Durham North Carolina, and a 2014 Data Fellow at the National Consortium for Data Science, leading a project targeting fundamental aspects of metadata capital.
Dr. Greenberg holds a post as a senior associate researcher in Knowledge Organization in the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She is the project investigator (PI) on the Helping Interdisciplinary Vocabulary Engineering (HIVE) initiative, which dynamically integrates linked data terminologies and supports automatic indexing and she is a co-PI of the Dryad repository for data underlying scientific published research.
Of further interest to institutional researchers Dr. Jane Greenberg is a principal investigator on National Science Foundation’s grant funded projects developing data sharing processes, platforms and licensing, notably between academia and industry.
